The matrix Standard is the unique quality framework for the effective delivery of information, advice and/or guidance on learning and work.

It promotes the delivery of high quality information, advice and/or guidance by ensuring organisations review, evaluate and develop their service; encourage the take up of professionally recognised qualifications and the continuous professional development of their staff.

The Standard was revised in 2011. The changes that have been made are to ensure the matrix Standard is fit for purpose, relevant, practical and a flexible tool. It has also been strengthened and simplified, in particular relating to:

Competence of staff, commitment to continuous improvement, outcomes of delivery and Information Technology advances

Recognise the need to ensure that staff have the skills, knowledge, competencies and qualifications, in line with national recognised qualifications and frameworks

Removal of duplication and alignment with business processes

Recognise the importance of defining, monitoring and reporting outcomes to deliver a more effective service to their clients
